Healing at the Speed of Excellence

For Families

At Velocity, every detail of our environment was chosen with families in mind—so that healing can begin the moment you arrive.

Helping families

A Partner in Your Child’s Healing

At Velocity Health Group, our clinical framework is intentionally built to meet the unique realities of today’s adolescents through small, highly supported cohorts and a deeply relational philosophy of care. We currently serve adolescent males ages 13-21 across a broad clinical spectrum—from those navigating a period of misalignment to those with complex presentations and prior treatment failures. Whether a family is seeking early support or has tried other interventions without success, our model is designed to meet each young man exactly where they are at.

Each cohort is limited to just six patients, supported by a multidisciplinary team of 20 staff exclusively assigned/supported for each cohort- including a lead instructor, clinician, family coach, teacher, and human performance specialist. With an overall Employee-to-Patient (EPOB) ratio of 4.9:1, we ensure that every interaction is an opportunity for attunement, connection, and healing.

Velocity moves beyond points or level systems, prioritizing trust and authentic human connection instead. Our approach integrates the full spectrum of human performance—mental, physical, emotional, and relational—and extends into the home through structured family coaching to support lasting, sustainable outcomes.

As we continue to grow, Velocity will expand in late 2026 to serve adolescent females, bringing our standard of relationship-centered, individualized care to even more young people and their families.

Our Approach

Philosophy of Care

Our Philosophy of Care is rooted in understanding that healing is a deeply personal and relational journey. We believe every child has an innate drive toward connection, health, and purpose, and that true change happens when care is grounded in safety and attunement—not control.

Effective treatment begins by recognizing and removing barriers that can hold a child back from growth. These barriers may be blocked trust, disconnection from oneself, or challenges in expressing distress and receiving comfort. Every behavior has meaning; it reflects underlying needs, a current nervous system state, and the degree of relational safety a child feels.

Instead of turning to behavioral modification systems like point or level systems, we choose to look beneath the surface. We seek to understand each child’s experience and respond with compassion and empathy, seeing each moment as an opportunity to connect. By providing a secure, nurturing environment and truly personalized care, we aim to empower every child to rediscover their strengths and move forward with hope and purpose.

Our Guarantee to Families

Our first priority is the well-being and success of the families we serve. That’s why we are proud to offer the only treatment guarantee in the field. We stand firmly behind the care we provide, ensuring families receive not just clinical support but a trusted partner in their healing journey.

If, within six months of completing our program, patients find themselves needing Residential Treatment Center-level care again, Velocity Health Group will provide up to 60 days of inpatient care at no cost to the family. This guarantee reflects our deep commitment to achieving meaningful, lasting outcomes for every individual who walks through our doors.

Our Approach

Comprehensive Continuing Care

Healing doesn’t stop when treatment ends—it’s a process that continues as families and youth reintegrate into home, school, and community life. To ensure this transition is as supported and successful as possible, every family receives a minimum of six months of reintegration services at no additional cost.

This personalized support is led by our dedicated Family Coaches, who are not only highly trained but also certified as parent coaches. Families can lean on these compassionate professionals for guidance, strategies, and encouragement throughout their reintegration experience. And they’re not alone—our entire care team remains accessible to provide ongoing advice and support.

At Velocity, we don’t just help families heal; we stand beside them at every step of their journey, empowering them with the tools and care they need for lasting transformation.

Testimonials

What People Are Saying About Velocity

“The adolescent behavioral health space has a scale problem. Bigger systems, smaller humans. What gets lost is the middle, where clinical depth meets actual relationship. Velocity is being built in that middle. Families will feel the difference, which is ultimately the only metric that matters.”

Matthew Ray Scott Principal/Managing Director at FEED The Agency.

"Velocity is the level of care clinicians often reference when an adolescent's needs exceed what standard programs can hold, but that has rarely existed in practice. It provides a place for young people who have historically been denied treatment or labeled "too complex" to finally receive appropriate care."

Alex Mufson LCSW Canary House | Integrative Healing Practice

"Velocity is emblematic of a broader and much-needed shift in adolescent behavioral health toward highly individualized, relationship-centered care. Programs that combine this level of clinical depth, staffing, and family involvement remain non-existent. Models like this are essential if we are to meaningfully improve short- and long-term outcomes for adolescents with complex behavioral health needs.

Professor James M Elliott PT, PhD, FAPTA Academic Director The Kolling Institute

Traditional residential treatment models have struggled to keep pace with the evolving and complex needs of today’s adolescents. Many of these approaches were not designed for the level of acuity, family involvement, and individualized care now required. Programs like Velocity are critical to helping the field evolve, offering more responsive, relationship-centered, and clinically sophisticated care. This kind of innovation is essential to better support adolescents and their families in meaningful, lasting ways."

Shandra Carter Executive Director Texas Juvenile Justice Department

"Velocity is setting a new standard for how we think about treating high-acuity adolescents and supporting families through that process. As a former special forces operator and executive director of an adolescent residential treatment center, Velocity's approach is setting a new standard of care."

Lt. Col (Ret) Joe Barnard former Executive Director Adolescent RTC

"I deeply respect the vision Chris Perkins brings to this work. His commitment to raising the bar for professionalism, paired with his belief that even the most complex cases deserve thoughtful, innovative care, is both timely and necessary. Velocity Health Group represents the kind of bold thinking our field needs—and that families deserve."

Danny Frazer Operating Partner, Open Sky Wilderness Therapy and Gain The Ridge Consulting

"The residential treatment world does not need more therapeutic boarding schools. It needs specialists who can deal with high acuity clients in a relational but controlled environment. Velocity is what the treatment landscape needs."

Dr. Ken Huey CEO The Hope Group

"Velocity Health Group represents a much-needed evolution in adolescent behavioral healthcare. Their relationship-centered, highly individualized approach, combined with exceptional clinical leadership and unwavering compassion, creates life-changing opportunities for adolescents who have exhausted nearly every other option. By redefining long-term inpatient care with dignity, innovation, and accountability, Velocity is not only transforming lives but setting a new benchmark for what effective adolescent treatment should be."

Lt. Col (Ret) Mike Smith Former special forces operator and current Chief of Staff - Darkhive
