Doug Young is a values-driven leader with a proven track record of creating safe, nurturing environments for youth and staff alike. As Program Director at Velocity Health Group, Doug brings over a decade of experience in mental health and a steadfast commitment to fostering growth, collaboration, and leadership.

Doug’s journey in the mental health field began in 2012, working overnight shifts at CALO in Lake Ozark, Missouri, where he played a pivotal role in expanding a youth program from 40 to 148 residents. His dedication to youth well-being continued as Interim Operations Director at North Star Independent Living in Phoenix, Arizona, where he focused on empowering young people through independent living programs. Most recently, Doug served as a Caseworker at Compass Health, working with adults to deepen his understanding of direct client support. Before entering the mental health field, Doug spent 18 years as a skilled electrician, honing his practical problem-solving abilities. Doug graduated from Missouri State University in 2021 with Major in Psychology and minors in religion and criminology.

Known for his exceptional leadership, Doug excels in team building, coaching, and creating effective policies and procedures. His work is guided by strong ethical and family values, and he is deeply committed to helping others reach their full potential. Doug’s contributions have earned him notable recognition, including the Calo Star Award in 2015 and an award from Midwest NATSAP for his impactful work with youth.

Originally from Kansas City, Doug now resides in Lebanon, Missouri, with his wife Jenny and stepson Manny. He is also a proud father of four from a previous marriage. A passionate Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan, Doug is a self-proclaimed kid at heart who loves the worlds of Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. His professional philosophy centers on helping those around him grow into the leaders of tomorrow, embodying the spirit of Velocity’s mission.
