Yolanda is a mission driven professional whose career reflects a deep commitment to service, resilience, and the well being of vulnerable populations. As a Family Life Coach at Velocity Health Group, she draws on a diverse background in military leadership, residential youth care, and child welfare services to support families navigating complex behavioral and mental health challenges.
Yolanda served for 15 years in the United States Army, where she developed strong leadership, discipline, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure. As a Drill Sergeant, she trained and mentored a large number of recruits, strengthening her skills in assessment, communication, and behavioral guidance. Her experience in logistical roles required attention to detail, organization, and accountability, all of which now translate into her ability to coordinate care and maintain accurate documentation in client focused settings.
Following her military service, Yolanda pursued her Bachelor of Science degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology while working at KVC Health Systems. In this role, she oversaw the care of adolescents in a residential setting, ensuring safety, administering medications with precision, and providing consistent emotional support. She worked in high stress environments that required crisis intervention while maintaining a structured and therapeutic atmosphere. Through this experience, she developed a nuanced understanding of trauma and its impact on behavior, allowing her to apply theory in real world situations with empathy and cultural awareness. She regularly mediated conflict, encouraged academic engagement, and supported youth in building confidence and achieving personal goals.
Yolanda later expanded her experience through her work with the Children’s Division as a case manager, where she investigated and addressed cases involving abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This role strengthened her critical thinking, ethical decision making, and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, reinforcing her commitment to advocacy and client centered care.
At Velocity Health Group, Yolanda serves as a bridge between families and treatment teams, helping caregivers understand and implement therapeutic strategies in their daily lives. She supports families in creating structure, improving communication, and navigating challenges with consistency and confidence. Her approach emphasizes practical application, trust building, and accountability, ensuring that treatment goals lead to meaningful and sustainable progress.
Outside of her professional role, Yolanda is a mother of four children of various ages, which informs her work with lived experience and perspective. She enjoys running, solving puzzles, and is an avid Pokémon Go player. She is currently completing her Master of Science in Psychology, continuing to strengthen her knowledge of human behavior and evidence based practice.
Yolanda’s background reflects a balance of structure, compassion, and adaptability, allowing her to effectively guide families toward stability, growth, and long term success.
